Our Story
It took just five years for Joseph McCarthy, a respected 17-year veteran of the stone industry, to grow Interior Stone into one of the premier custom stone and tile companies in the industry. Originally starting out with just a handful of clients who were familiar with McCarthy’s reputation for first-rate work, the company immediately began leaving its mark. (And word-of-mouth traveled fast.) The next few years saw Interior Stone work tirelessly to build and service a mostly referral-based group of clients—some of the most elite custom homebuilders and cabinetmakers in the area among them.
Quickly recognizing a need to expand, especially in its tile division, Interior Stone opened its second showroom in April, 2003, on Route 9 in Natick. And has recently relocated from its original Clematis Avenue showroom to a brand-new 24,000-square-foot facility on Lexington Street in Waltham. McCarthy, a long-time stone craftsman, has drawn from various “how not to” experiences en route to establishing a successful philosophy for his business and, most importantly, for his customers. Imparting these invaluable lessons to repeat and prospective clients alike enables them to make more informed purchasing decisions and is just one of the many examples of how Interior Stone separates itself from the rest of the stone pack.
